Emerging Technologies For Big Data Processing: NOSQL And NEWSQL Data Stores
نویسنده
چکیده
In this incessant science and technological era, where advances in web technology and the production of mobile devices and sensors connected to the Internet are resulting to voluminous amount of structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, called Big Data, the demand for technologies with extensive processing and storage requirements is rising to persuasively process such data i.e. Big Data. Traditional relational databases are facing challenges in meeting the performance and scale requirements of Big data. To meet these requirements enterprises are adopting diversified technologies like NoSQL and NewSQL which are emerging as alternative to relational database technologies for the various interrelated megatrends like Big Data and Cloud Computing. This paper discusses the prominent features of NoSQL and NewSQL data stores in the context of cloud computing.

NewSQL: Towards Next-Generation Scalable RDBMS for Online Transaction Processing (OLTP) for Big Data Management
One of the key advances in resolving the “big-data” problem has been the emergence of an alternative database technology. Today, classic RDBMS are complemented by a rich set of alternative Data Management Systems (DMS) specially designed to handle the volume, variety, velocity and variability of Big Data collections; these DMS include NoSQL, NewSQL and Search-based systems. NewSQL is a class of...

Data processing systems impose multiple views on data as it is processed by the system. These views include spreadsheets, databases, matrices, and graphs. The common theme amongst these views is the need to store and operate on data as whole sets instead of as individual data elements. This work describes a common mathematical representation of these data sets (associative arrays) that applies ...
متن کاملNoSQL Database: New Era of Databases for Big data Analytics - Classification, Characteristics and Comparison
Digital world is growing very fast and become more complex in the volume (terabyte to petabyte), variety (structured and un-structured and hybrid), velocity (high speed in growth) in nature. This refers to as ‘Big Data’ that is a global phenomenon. This is typically considered to be a data collection that has grown so large it can’t be effectively managed or exploited using conventional data ma...
متن کاملOn Bridging Relational and Document-Centric Data Stores
Big Data scenarios often involve massive collections of nested data objects, typically referred to as “documents.” The challenges of document management at web scale have stimulated a recent trend towards the development of document-centric “NoSQL” data stores. Many query tasks naturally involve reasoning over data residing across NoSQL and relational “SQL” databases. Having data divided over s...
متن کاملPolystore Query Rewriting: The Challenges of Variety
Numerous databases marketed as SQL-on-Hadoop, NewSQL [16] and NoSQL have emerged to catalyze Big Data applications. These databases generally support the 3Vs [7]. (i) Volume: amount of data (ii) Velocity: speed of data in and out (iii) Variety: semi-structured and heterogeneous data. As a result of differing use cases and design considerations around the Variety requirement, these new databases...
